Charles Varner Obituary

Charles Melroy Varner Battle Creek Mr. Charles Melroy Varner, 89, of Battle Creek, MI, died Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at his home in Battle Creek, MI. He was born January 20, 1920 in Bryan, OH the son of Albert Dewey and Gretta E. (Pullen) Varner. He retired as a tool & die maker from Eaton Corp. in 1977 after 35 years of service. Charles is survived by daughters: Kay (Jim) Roller and Diane (Terry) Foreman both of Battle Creek, MI; son: Gary (Opal) Varner of Battle Creek, MI; 7 grandchildren, 14 great -grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Laura (Wood) Varner (2008); great-grandson: Jacob Roller (2004): and Sisters: Wilma Callahan and Lucille Rix. He was member and past president of the Eagle Lodge #299. He was the vice president of the union at Eaton corp. He loved golfing, bowling and formerly enjoyed fishing. He and his wife, Laura, formerly wintered in Texas for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his cat "Baby". Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Thursday, July 9, 2009, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Karl N. Strenge of Redemption Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
