Shayne Gendron Obituary

Shayne Patrick Gendron Battle Creek Shayne Patrick Gendron, 43, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at his home. He was born February 6, 1966, at Fort Belvoir, VA, the son of Arthur and Yvonne Gendron. His father Arthur preceded him in death on September 26, 2006. Shayne graduated from Norwich Free Academy and then attended the University of Connecticut. He honorably served in the US Navy for six years where he met and married fellow sailor, Julia Faye Murdock on February 14, 1992, and they enjoyed 17 wonderful years together. After their years in the Navy they returned to Battle Creek and both received degrees from Kellogg Community College and Siena Heights University. Shayne was an accountant and his wife is still a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist at the office of Rebecca Sommer. He is survived by his wife, Julia, and his son, Ian, who will be a Junior at Battle Creek Central this fall. He is also survived by his mother, Yvonne Gendron; his sister, Ronnette (Gendron) Bernatovich; his two brothers, Mark Gendron and Gerald Gendron. Shayne was an active member of the Battle Creek Griffons Rugby Team, the assistant coach of the all-city high school rugby team, the Mercenaries, and an unrelenting golfer. He volunteered for Community Action's Meals on Wheels and was a long-standing member of the Board at Temple Beth EI. At the request of the family, services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Fort Custer National Cemetery Pavilion 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta with Cantor Larry Charson, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Temple Beth El, at 306 Capital Ave NE, for a scholarship fund for Shayne's son, Ian Gendron. Arrangements were made by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com

I just found out about Shayne's passing... He will be greatly missed... just know that now you have a guardian angle to look over you and Ian where ever you go... you and your family are in our prayers.

Julia,

You know if I had known of Shayne's passing, I would have been right there. My heart goes out to you and your son and to all those who knew and loved Shayne. I observed the two of you for a very short time - but I could see the wonderful connection the two of you had. Keep that in your heart - no one can ever take that away from you. And, don't forget -look up at the stars at night and sing - he is listening. Shalom

Julia-
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I just found out about it and missed the service. I would have been there for you if i could. Shane was a great man and very funny. He will be sorely missed by many and loved by all. You and your family will be in my prayers.

oh boy is Shayne (Moshe) going to be missed. I will miss how he heckeled me at bowling about hitting the head pin. I'm going to miss our compation during scotch doubles. Moshe u will be sorely missed and I'm so greatful that god brought you and Julia in to our lives.
