Winnie Lucas

Winnie Lucas Bellview Florida Winnie Lucas, 97, joined the ancestors, Wednesday, July 29, 2009. She was born October 13, 1911 in Livingston, Tennessee, one of 14 children, relocating to Battle Creek, Michigan in the 1930's and later residing in Deltona, FL, Grand Junction, Co, Holland, MI and Belleview, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt and an amazing grandmother to all who called her Grams. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family with unconditional love, leaving a legacy of family and friends who love her dearly. Enhancing the lives of all she touched included the kindergarteners she volunteered with in her 80's at Pomona Elementary in Grand Junction, Co. Winnie had a zest for life that was contagious. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, berry picking and her loving dogs. Her love for having fun at casino's rewarded her often. Being highly skilled in knitting and crocheting, most of her creations were gifted to those she loved. She will be missed greatly. She is survived by: daughter; Mary A. (Robert) Sams, Belleview, FL.; sister; Laura Dixon, Cookeville, TN; 3 granddaughters; Lynda Boody, Washington, DC; Vicki Boody, Delton, MI; Wendi Sams, Atlanta, GA; 5 great-grandchildren; Dustin Curtiss (Shannon), Holland, MI; Alyssa Curtiss, Kalamazoo, MI; Teddy Boody, Washington, DC; Tara Boody-Winningham, and Lindsay Hurst, Sapulpa, OK; 4 great-great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clyde, grandson Ted Boody, Jr., step-son Robert Lucas, and step-daughter, Wilma Antes. Memorial Services will be held in Livingston, TN at Liberty, August 8, 2009, 3:00 p.m. Michigan Services will be held in Battle Creek, MI at Abscota Cemetery, corner of N Drive South and 7 Mile Road, Burlington, MI, August 12, 2009, 4:00 p.m. by Spencer's Funeral Home in Athens, MI Remembrance donations may be sent to Hospice Tuscany House, 17395 SE 109th Terrace Rd., Summerfield, FL 34491.
