James Johnson Obituary

James Oswald Johnson Richland James "Jim" Oswald Johnson, 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2009. Born September 15, 1944 in Fertile, MN Jim was the seventh and youngest child of George and Mildred Oswald-Johnson. Jim was a graduate of Fertile High School and former SGT in the USAF. Jim made a career from his artistry and passion for carpentry. He was an avid hunter and never missed a November "opening day" in Michigan. Jim will be remembered always as a loving partner, proud father, cherished brother and good friend. Before losing his battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William and George Johnson and sister Mavis LaRoque. Jim is survived by his dear, devoted partner Anne Heeter of Richland; children Victoria (Ray) Barnes of Frisco, TX, Nicholas Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Anthony Johnson of Irving, TX; grandchildren; sisters Lois (Dale) Walters of Anchorage, Alaska and Adorine Bennes of Fertile, MN; brother Graydon Johnson of Walker, MN. Memorial services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m. August 31, 2009 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The family is being assisted by the Today Center of West Michigan.

The Burnham families all truly treasured their friendships with Jimmy. He definitely is a part of all of our homes due to his excellent craftsmanship! We've missed seeing him the past few years but have many fond memories. Our condolences to his family and Anne.

Jim was a great guy! I met Jim back in 89 thur my mom I was just in a motorcycle accident so he was able to help me out. then Julie & I bought a house the owner had lived there for forty years nothing had been done since the 70's of course we were working on a budget Jim said no problem so we paid what we could and bought dinner then when we finished the kitchen so we cooked steaks,venison,burgers he spent a lot of time with us and and we finised the whole main floor he always was there when I could not get it he was a great friend to all of us THANKS JIM
