Sharon Longwell Obituary

Sharon Kay Longwell Battle Creek Sharon Kay Longwell, 65, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at her home. She was born March 15, 1944, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Ralph and Letha (Whitworth) McCann. Sharon was previously employed in housekeeping at the Southwest Michigan Rehabilitation Hospital. She retired in 2004 due to ill health. Sharon enjoyed ceramics, collecting Indian plates and movies. She was preceded in death by her long-time companion, Norman Saugie, on September 28, 1991. She is survived by her sons Michael (Karen Isaacs) Longwell of Fletcher, NC, Scott (Dawn Atkinson) Longwell of Battle Creek and Roy Saugie of Battle Creek. She also leaves her two sisters Mary Lou (Charles) Hounshell and Linda Lynd both of Battle Creek. Her nieces Cindy Lynd and Marilynne Tooker and nephews Jefferey Tooker, Jordan Tooker and Kylia Youmans also survive her. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ralph Ted McCann. A memorial to celebrate Sharon's life will be held at her home, 349 Pleasantview Ave., at 3:00pm, Friday, September 18, 2009. Arrangements are by Royal Funeral Home.

Sharon, I had not seen you in a couple years but I frequently thought about you and spoke about you at work. It was a sad day when you had to retire because I really loved working with you. You worked hard all your life and you loved your kids so much. I know the Lord will reward you for being such a great lady. I love you Sharon and God Bless you.
