Betty Machin Obituary

Betty L. Machin Climax Betty L. Machin, age 80, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2009. She was born June 4, 1929 in Fulton, Michigan, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Meyer) Kimbel. On July 6, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Karl "Gus" Machin. She was employed by Kellogg Company for over 33 years until her retirement. Betty was an active member of the Climax United Methodist Church, and a member of the church choir. She also was a member of the Kellogg Retiree Association, and Kellogg 25 Year Club. Betty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and doing puzzles. Surviving are five children, Michael Machin of Battle Creek, Patrick Machin of Kalamazoo, David (Bambi) Machin of Kalamazoo, Daniel (Christina Briggs) Machin of Scotts, and Donna (Terry Avery) Machin of Climax; five grandchildren, Rhonda Neuman, Josh Machin, Sean Machin, Mason Machin, Kari Machin; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Megan; mother, Florence Bentley of Galesburg; one sister, Floella Spells of Galesburg; half-sister, Olaina Kimbel of Arizona; half-brother, Aaron Kimbel of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were husband of 45 years, Gus Machin; her father, Earl Kimbel; an infant granddaughter, Valerie; and two brothers, Earl Kimbel and an infant brother. Funeral services for Betty will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, with Pastor Glenn C. Litchfield. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Betty was an angel to me. She always had a great story to share and she was so faithful to our church and choir. I always knew exactly how much Betty loved me and being in our choir. I will miss her so much and I rejoice in the fact that she is singing with our Lord Jesus in heaven
