Norris Allen Obituary

Norris L. Allen Union City Norris L. Allen, 83 of Union City, MI passed away Friday October 2, 2009. He was born October 16, 1925 in Battle Creek, MI to Philemon and Doris Lura (Weatherbee) Allen. He was raised on the family farm, worked on the land and finally retired after sixty plus years in 1972. Norris was the Justice of the Peace in Union City during the late fifties until the early seventies. He attended MSU, was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Branch County 4-H. He enjoyed farming, hunting, reading, eating and was the loving caretaker to his parents and the family dogs. He is survived by 7 nephews and nieces, David Lawrence, Jeffery Lawrence and Clay Lawrence all of Battle Creek, Brett Lawrence of Flint, MI, Nyla and Brian McCoy of Davison, MI, Suzie and Gary Yates of Huntington Beach, CA and Annie and Norman Etkind of East Calis, VT; also, 11 great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Lura Lawrence in 1970; and a brother Morris Leo Allen. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City, MI. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City, MI with Rev Wayne Halbleib officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Union City, MI You may leave an on line tribute by visiting www.putnamfuneralhome.com

Dave-David and I will not be able to attend visitation or the funeral. Uncle Bud was a wonderful man and enjoyed by all at CCMCF. Please know that the entire Wood family is sharing in your sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. David and Kathy Wood
