Carol A. Tinney-Davis Gustke

Carol A. Tinney-Davis Gustke Battle Creek Carol A. Tinney-Davis Gustke, 73, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 21, 2009 after a year long fight with Cancer. She was born in Fremont, Michigan on July 22, 1936 the daughter of Clayton and Iilah (Conliff) Tinney. Carol received a Bachelors Degree from Western Michigan University and was a very accomplished and much published author who wrote many books, newspaper and magazine articles. Carol married Arthur "Art" C. Gustke in Battle Creek on June 6, 1978; he survives. She is also survived by her sons, Mike Davis, Luke Davis, both of Florida, Phil Davis of North Carolina and Rev. Bonner Davis of Pennsylvania; a step-daughter, Brenda Gustke of Kalamazoo; her mother, Iilah Gerberich of Fremont; 2 brothers, John Tinney of Fremont, Bill Tinney of Utah and many grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. J.C. Davis; her father, Clayton Tinney; a sister, Lois Blackwell-Bylenga and a step-son, Matthew Gustke. At the request of her family, the funeral service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24th at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, with Pastor Ernie Rose of the New Life Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment with a committal service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, Michigan with her son, Rev. Bonner Davis, officiating. Memorials contributions in Carol's honor may be made to the New Life Church or the Haven of Rest Ministries in Battle Creek.
