Neil Crampton Obituary

Neil F. Crampton Birch Run Neil F. Crampton, age 85, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Tendercare of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Rev. Dr. Carl Petty officiating. Burial at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet, Michigan on Sunday at 1pm. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Advantage, the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Genesee County. Neil was born November 10, 1923 in Olivet, Michigan to the late Franklin and Lillian (Steffen) Crampton. He was a 1942 graduate of Olivet High School. He had resided in the Birch Run area since 1959, coming from Olivet. Neil was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII in five major battles; England, France, Belgium, Luxumburg and Austria. He was decorated with the European Theater Ribbon with 5 bronze stars, the Normandy Invasion Bronze Arrowhead, the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Neil married Juanita Hayter on March 31, 1946 in Olivet. He was employed with AC Spark Plug for 18 years as a safety supervisor and workman's compensation supervisor. He was a life member of the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post 1452 in Clio, Harrisville Post #6466 and the Birch Run Post #7542. He was also a member of the Flint Executive Club and the Clio Lions Club. He served as a Patrolman at the Battle Creek City Police, was Deputy of the Eaton County Sheriff Department, Chief of the Olivet Police Department and served on the Clio City Commission. Surviving are: wife, Juanita; son, Michael (Kathryn) Crampton of Shelby Twp.; daughters, Patricia (Fred) Tobeler of Millington, Debra (Ronald) Amey of Burton and Sallie (James) Tilley of Birch Run; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren. To All of Neil's Family & Friends, my prayers and thoughts go out to each one of you. God comfort you all as Neil is with our Heavenly Father a much greater place than earth. I know he will be greatly missed. I recall all the great times I had over to his home in Clio. It was my second home and I always enjoyed being their. I miss the old times. I know anyone who has touched Neil's path in life will always have good memories of him.
