Douglas Hurt Obituary

Douglas W. Hurt Battle Creek Douglas W. Hurt, age 50, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at his home. Douglas was born on June 21, 1959, which was his parents 1st anniversary, the longest day of the year and Father's Day, it was a proud day. He was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek and a graduate of Harper Creek High School. On December 15, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen. Doug's first job was delivering TV's at his dad's store Eastern TV. He was employed for awhile at Eaton Corp., and American Fibrit at Fort Custer. He loved riding his Harley before he became disabled, deer hunting and walking in the woods. Doug's faith was important to him and sometimes it was the only thing he could cling to especially upon the death of his oldest son, Josh in 2002. All that knew him; knew of his kind heart and his caring loving ways and his kids say he was the Best Dad Ever! Surviving is a son, Jason; a daughter, Sarah; 2 grandchildren who he adored, Adrian and Conner; his mother and step-father, Ann and Jim Kingsnorth; his father, George (Barb) Hurt; brother, Randy; 2 nephews who he made their home with him for a short period, Ben and Cody Hurt and 2 other nephews and 1 niece. My heart goes out to your family. One of my memories of Doug was when he, I and 2 other classmates got in trouble in jr high school and our math teacher threatened us all with the dreaded wooden paddle drilled with holes! I reminded him of that the last time I saw him we had a good laugh about it.
