Robert Mixon Obituary

Robert L. Mixon Guin, AL Robert L. Mixon, 89, of Guin, Alabama and formerly of Battle Creek, died October 15, 2009. He was born March 19, 1920 in Brilliant, AL to Ed and Effie (Gay) Mixon. He married Myrtle Shirey on March 14, 1942. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He and his family moved to Battle Creek in 1952. He was employed at Oliver and Eaton Corporations before retiring from the Kellogg Company in 1980, after 20 years. After retirement, he moved back to Alabama. Robert is survived by Myrtle, his wife of 67 years; daughter-in-law, Connie Mixon of Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Derek (Michelle) Mixon of Lowell, Stacy (Andrew) Schweitzer and Kirsten (Scott) Waltrip of Battle Creek; and four great-grandchildren, D. J. and Jordan Mixon, Rowan Schweitzer and Liam Waltrip. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert W. Mixon, his parents and sister. Memorial services and burial were held at Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church in Guin, AL. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
