Richard Bloch Obituary

Richard P. Bloch D.O. Battle Creek Richard P. Bloch D.O., 78, of Battle Creek passed away Monday November 30, 2009 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born on October 8, 1931 in Detroit to Alexander and Oneita (Draper) Bloch. Richard graduated from Wayne State University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952. He married June E. Bristow on December 18, 1954 in Windsor, Ont. Richard was in private practice for over 25 years and then was on staff at the VA Medical Center for 6 years, retiring in 1993. Richard is survived by his wife, June, sons, Russell P. (Janet) Bloch and David M. (Juli) Bloch, and a daughter, Laura S. (Don) LaLonde, all of Battle Creek; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and George Bloch. Richard attended Westlake Presbyterian Church and enjoyed collecting stamps. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Westlake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. B. Mason Shambach officiating. A private family committal service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Salvation Army or Westlake Presbyterian Church.

june, i had the plesaure of running onto dr bloch when i was taking my dad into the va to have his hearing aids adjusted. we talked for about 1/2 hour. i was walking behind him and i knew the voice, his voice was as distinctive was he was. he was a kind man. our prayers are with you during this time of sadness.
