Otis Myers Obituary

Otis W. Myers Marshall Otis W. Myers, a retired attorney from Marshall, went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2009. He was 87 years of age at the time of his death. He was born on May 21, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Dr. Merrill M. and Edith M. Myers. Otis obtained his public school education in Des Moines before continuing his educational pursuits, obtaining an Associates of Arts Degree from Sioux Falls College, a Bachelors Degree from Albion College and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Michigan in 1949. His educational program was interrupted in 1942 with his enlistment in the U.S. Air Corps. Following his graduation from the flying program as a 2nd Lt., he was assigned as an Advanced stage flying instructor and continued to teach fighter pilots in single engine aircraft until the end of World War II He was married in 1944 to Eunice L. Morgan in 1944. That marriage ended in divorce. In 1972, he was united in marriage with Margaret A. Chopper who died February 10, 2003. Mr. Myers was engaged in the practice of law in Albion and Marshall, from 1949 until his retirement in 1990. During the majority of his practice, he specialized in assisting his clients with their estate planning and the administration of the estates of their loved ones. Throughout his adult lifetime, he and his wife, Margaret, were active in the various teaching, musical and leadership ministries of their church, most recently Family Bible Church of Marshall. In both the Albion and Marshall, Mr. Myers actively participated in numerous civic and charitable organizations. He loved and is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Harvey) Stremler, and Wendy (Daniel) Clark; and his stepchildren, William (Suzanne) Chopper and Julianna Chopper ; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Craig Kempf Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marshall. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3rd. at Family Bible Church, 14995 N. Old US 27, Marshall. Memorial gifts may be given to Family Bible Church, Marshall Community Foundation, Oaklawn Hospital or an organization of the donor's choice.
