Harold Turner Obituary

Harold Turner Battle Creek January 20, 1925 - December 14, 2009 Harold Turner, 84, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born in Neillsville, Wisconsin on January 20, 1925. Harold Turner was a wonderful, compassionate man. His outlook on life was consistently positive. He came from a large family that was filled with music, laughter and love. Harold was raised in Minnesota and Wisconsin by his parents, Ira and Helen Turner. He had three brothers and two sisters. Harold Turner was a civil structural engineer, working at several locations in the Midwestern states. He was very conscientious and an engineer's engineer. Doing "his best" was something he strived for each day. Harold was very musical, adept at playing tenor and alto saxophones, as well as the piano. His retirement years were invaluably enriched by his participation in bands in Battle Creek. He was also quite artistically talented, and completed several dozen paintings through his life. As a father, he was very patient and supportive. He was a very religious man, as a member of the Presbyterian Church. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and by his sisters, Verna and Laurel, and brother Robert. His surviving family includes his brothers Tom and Richard, three sons, and a sister-in-law. At the request of the family, they will receive friends 10:00 11:00 a.m., today at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., today. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
