Armand Egil Krievins

Armand Egil Krievins Battle Creek Armand Egil Krievins, 70 of Battle Creek passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Battle Creek Health System. He was born September 12, 1939 in Riga, Latvia the son of Dr. Persijs and Margo Krievins. The family came to the U.S.A. in 1950 after living in Displaced Persons Camps in Germany, following the Russian occupation of Latvia during the war and they had to flee their country. They were sponsored by the Lutheran church and settled in Three Rivers, Michigan where Armand graduated from Three Rivers High School and then attended Ferris State University. On August 13, 1983 he married Patsy Soleski, who survives. Also surviving are his son: James (Teresa) Krievins; grandson: Jesse; granddaughters: Erica, Allison and Tiffany; brother: Norm (Trudy) Krievins; brother-in-law: Bill Soleski; sister-in-law: Terry Soleski; niece: Michelle Newman and nephew: Mike Krievins. Armand worked as Assistant Manager and later Manager at Furman's for 27½years. He loved to buy flowers for their home, cook, listen to opera, and watch the birds, turkeys and deer in the back yard. For several years he crewed for at the balloon festival and also volunteered at the cereal festival. Armand loved traveling "up north" and going back to Latvia which he did on three occasions. He also loved his cars and especially his family and friends. He is at peace now and no longer suffering. He will be missed very much. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
