David Gaskell Obituary

David E. Gaskell Battle Creek David Eugene Gaskell, 74, went home to be with his Lord December 19, 2009. He was born April 3, 1935, the son of Jesse and Gladys (Albaugh) Gaskell in Battle Creek. David graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1954. He served in the Air National Guard. David worked as a printer in the printing and carton department at Post for 30 years, retiring in 1990. David is survived by his son, "Tony" Carl (Jan) Gaskell of Battle Creek; daughters, Suzette (Jeffrey) Jacobs of Memphis, Tennessee, Victoria D. Salyer of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Laura Gaskell, Corey Gaskell, Keith (Nunn) Gaskell, Joshua Jacobs and Jesse Salyer; great-grandchildren, Breana Gaskell, Seth Gaskell, Carlee Gaskell and Hailie Markos; sister, Marcia Mueller of Battle Creek; and former wife, Hazeldean (Carpenter) Gaskell. David is also survived by a special friend, Corl Colles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Gaskell. David was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the men's breakfast group. He was an active volunteer around the church. David also loved animals, especially cats. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Shaw Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Fr. Brian Coleman officiating. Memorial donations may go to American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com
