Margaret Agnew Obituary

Margaret A. Agnew Battle Creek Margaret A. (Spruill) Agnew, 62, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, December 31, 2009. She was born December 13, 1947 in Columbus, MS the daughter of Richard Spruill and Callie Mae (Owens) Spruill. She had been a diligent employee as a cook in the kitchen of Evergreen Manor for 21 years, retiring in April 2009. She married Lee A. Agnew on February 11, 1966 in Battle Creek; however he passed away on June 25, 1998. Margaret is survived by three daughters: Rochelle Agnew; Michelle Agnew; and Charmaine Y. Agnew all of Battle Creek; a step daughter: Farrell and Rick Rowls of Chicago, ILL; one son: Martel C. and Shaleea Agnew of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren: Jannel Sherrod, Channel Sherrod, Tyanna Evans, Arieon James, Marquis Gray, Maryiah Agnew, Sha'diamyn Agnew, Tyanna Michelle Hopkins, Tyell Smith, and Tyrell Smith; 3 great-grandchildren: Aziaha Hill, Aniah Hill and Zarie Sherrod; three sisters all of Battle Creek - Ora Warfield; Cleo Carter and Onita Hubbard; three brothers: Richard Spruill, Jr. of Battle Creek; Louis Spruill of Minneapolis, MN; and Roosevelt and Ruby Spruill of Vero Beach, FL. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister: Lizzie Mae Hughes; four brothers: Walter Spruill, Climon Spruill, Hunter Spruill and Jerry Spruill. She received her education in Columbus, Mississippi and graduated in 1965 from Battle Creek Central High School. She relished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed the TV program "Law & Order." She rooted for the Dallas Cowboys football team. Visitation will be at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service after 9 a.m. Friday, where the family will be present from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Timothy Troxler of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to American Cancer Society.
