Leonard Hardoin Obituary

Leonard J. Hardoin Battle Creek Leonard John Hardoin, 80, of Battle Creek and formerly of Lake, Michigan died January 8, 2010 at home. He was born November 1, 1929, the son of Leonard James and Josephine (Maul) Hardoin in Detroit. Leonard graduated from Denby High School in Detroit and served in the U. S. Navy Seabees during the Korean Conflict. He worked for nine years as a Detroit Firefighter. He then worked as a licensed building contractor in Clare County for 30 years and he also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a postal carrier in Lake for 14 years. On May 27, 1950, Leonard married Dolores Kersten in Detroit. She survives. Also surviving are children, Deborah (Larry) Schoof of Tucson, Arizona, Matthew L. (Brenda) Hardoin of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, Barbara (Daniel) Williams of Groton, Connecticut, Dr. Leonard J. (Tara) Hardoin of Spring, Texas, Robert (Sherry) Hardoin of Magnolia, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Mary) Hardoin of Sulfur, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Hardoin and sister, Virginia Rowland. Leonard enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking and traveling to visit his many family and friends. A memorial service will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Shaw Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial donations may go to American Heart Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospitals or Good Samaritan Hospice Care. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com
