Ralph Ebert Obituary

Ralph R. Ebert Battle Creek Ralph R. Ebert, 86, of Battle Creek, died peacefully and went to be with his Lord, Wednesday morning, January 13, 2010 at the Battle Creek Health Systems. He was born in Battle Creek, on October 10, 1923 the son of Peter and Viola (Shire) Ebert. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy from March 1941 to February 1947. He was employed with the United Steel and Wire Company from 1947 to 1956. Ralph retired from Hydreco in Galesburg in 1986 after 30 years of faithful service. Later he worked for several years at the Urbandale Felpausch Store. Ralph married the girl of his dreams and Homecoming Queen, Hilda Walling in Battle Creek, June 19, 1948. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2006. Also preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Al Bates and Peter Ebert. He is survived by his son, Ray Ebert and daughter, Danine (Bill) Milligan, all of Battle Creek; grandson, Pastor Jon (Erica) Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Makenzie Allen, all of Caledonia, Michigan. Ralph was a faithful member of the First Wesleyan Church, for nearly 30 years where he served as an usher, a greeter, church trustee and also on various committees. He enjoyed hunting, reading, family times and celebrations, and watching old John Wayne movies. At the request of the family, friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Monday, at Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the First Wesleyan Church, 14425 S. Helmer Rd., Battle Creek, MI, 49015, with Pastor Robert L. Zuhl and Pastor Jon R. Allen officiating. Interment at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors will be at noon. Friends who wish may make memorial contribution to the church's, care of the "Building Fund". Ray and Danine:
