Many years ago I played baseball on a Cub Team sponsored by the Elks. I was on the team not due to my athletic ability but due to the fact that my friend had a relative who was high up the food chain at the Lodge. The team was quite good and won most of our games. Consequently I got to play even. We won the city championship and had our picture on the wall at the Youth Building. The team was good due to two reasons, our coach Tom Gould and our ace pitcher Larry Swartzle. Some of my friends said they didn't look forward to facing him in the batters box. Thanks Larry.

Dear Swartzle Family,
When I was growing up on North 30th Street, it was very exciting to see a new home being built 2 doors down from our house, even though this home was replacing our neighborhood baseball field! Little did we know then that a grest baseball player would be living there! I was in 7th grade when the Swartzles moved in, and Pat and I became great friends. I remember Larry's great smile and his love of all sports, but particularly baseball.
Larry was a loving, devoted son, husband, brother, dad, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His legacy is his love, so wonderfully shown in his faithful love and devotion to his beloved wife, Jeanne.
Please know that we hold you all in our hearts and prayers, as we ask the Lord to minister to your grieving hearts. Love, Bob&Sue(Kneeland)Wade

Dear Stacey, Joe, and Family
Your father and I have been friends for many years. I have so many fond memories growing up with him. I know how much he especially loved baseball.
Both your mother and father were very special friends, always including me with their different activities. I regret so much that I will not be able to attend the funeral as I am in Florida. You both know that my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.
He was such an important part of my grandsons and many others young children in encouraging them and attending many of their sports activities. He watched them grow from a young age to their high school careers. He loved sports and could always remember each and every play.
He will be missed by many. Please know that I send my deepest sympathy to you and your families.
