Marian Sommers Obituary

Marian E. Sommers Marshall Marian E. Sommers, age 97, of Marshall went to meet her Lord and family on Thursday evening, January 21, 2010. Mrs. Sommers was born on December 24, 1912 in Marshall Township to Irwin and Iova E. (Millard) Baker. On May 23, 1931, she married Lloyd C. Sommers in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1985. She had been employed as a seamstress at the old Coles Men Store in Battle Creek She is survived by daughters, Barbara (John) Carpenter of Delton and Shirley (Donald) Quada of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children, Evalee M. Sommers, Donald L. Sommers and Eugene Sommers; grandchildren, Toni Sommers and Larry Sommers; and sisters, Louise Baker, Elizabeth Albrecht and Roberta Womack. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marshall. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials are to the Great Lakes Hospice or the Marshall First Baptist Church. My Aunt Carolyn resides at Whispering Meadows so I have had some interactions with Marian. I am sorry to hear of her passing, may the God Bless keep his loving arms around your family during this time of mourning.
