Thomas Hoag Obituary

Thomas G. Hoag East Leroy Thomas George Hoag, 65, of East Leroy died January 25, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, Battle Creek. He was born August 6, 1944, the son of Leslie D. and Ruth V. (Mitchell) Hoag in Coldwater. Thomas graduated from Athens High School and attended Kellogg Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 until 1967. Thomas worked for Consumers Energy for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hoag; daughter, Christina (Eric) Briggs of Osseo; son, Troy T. Hoag of Essexville; grandchildren, Troy "T. J." Hoag, Emma Hoag and Erica Briggs; his mother, Ruth Hoag of Battle Creek; his mother-in-law, Frances Cunic of Athens; brothers, Gerald (Joann) Hoag of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and sister, Jane (Wesley) Brandt of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his father. Thomas was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and served on its vestry as Junior Warden. He was also a charter member of the Athens Lions Club, a former member of the Battle Creek Soccer Club and served as an assistant coach for Little League baseball. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Shaw Funeral Home. Services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Paul Brisbane and Pastor Jim Codde officiating. Inurnment, Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may go to Church of the Resurrection or Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com

I too am sorry for your loss! I know this has been extremely hard on all of you! I'm sure this wasn't easy for Tom or any of you.Tom was a heck of a nice guy, I remember him mostly from school, which was a long time ago. Please know your all in my thoughts and prayers. Even though, you all knew this was coming, were just NEVER really ready to let go. Reflect on all the wonderful memories you all have of being together.
