Lillian Liggett Obituary

Lillian A. Liggett Olivet Lillian A. Liggett, age 88, of Olivet, Mich. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2010 with her loving family at her side. Lillian was born January 9, 1922 to Flossie and Russell Weakley of Battle Creek. Lillian recently celebrated her 88th birthday with a co-birthday celebration with her sister, Margaret Irish, and many family members. Lillian married John Liggett on May 7, 1938 and raised three children; Carolyn (Ron) Campbell of Olivet, Larry Liggett of Marshall and Janis (Jim) Anderson of Battle Creek. Lillian lived most of her married life in Olivet. She is survived by her children, her sister, Margaret Irish of East Leroy, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She worked for the Kellogg Company for 12 years before retiring due to ill health. She loved her many poodle dogs and would never turn away the many stray animals that always seemed to find their way to her door. Summers were spent with her husband camping at Pine Lake, fishing, dancing and hosting their many grandchildren fostering a lifetime of memories and joy. They wintered over 20 years in Weslaco, Texas. Her family very much enjoyed her annual spaghetti dinners where they would be blessed with her homemade cooking and hospitality. She was totally dedicated to her family. Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, in 2004, her sister, Eulah Sivits and parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
