Florence Pemberton Obituary

Florence Margurite Pemberton Battle Creek Florence Margurite Pemberton, 98, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Battle Creek Health System. Florence was born on October 26, 1911, in Cadillac, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur C. and Eva Mae (Bearss) Newland. She had been an area resident since age 4, and was a 1930 graduate of Central High School. Then she attended Argubright Business College. On June 20, 1936, in Battle Creek, she was united in marriage to Arthur Pemberton, he preceded her in death on September 7, 2008. She was employed at General Foods Corporation from 1933 to 1943 as a secretary in the Research Department. Florence served as parish secretary for St. Thomas Episcopal Church for 32 years from 1954 to 1986. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and its Service Guild. She enjoyed growing flowers and reading. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lee Pemberton of Augusta, MI; 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Beatrice M. Griffith. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with The Rev. Brian R. Coleman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or the Salvation Army

Hi Sharon... Loved that lady. You have been in my thoughts and prayers. A bad cough kept me away yesterday as I did not wish that on any of you, but really missed seeing you. Will take you out to lunch when things settle down. Love forever, Joni
