Shirley M. Hanes, nee Haege, 70, of Alhambra, Ill., born July 20, 1936, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at her home.
Mrs. Hanes retired from Union Electric (Ameren UE) Company, East Saint Louis, Ill., in June of 1999. She enjoyed playing golf and loved to meet her friends for lunch and shopping. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alhambra, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flossie, nee Elder, Haege; a sister, Barbara J. Calvert; and a niece, Kathy J. Leirer.
She married Charles A. Hanes, who survives.
Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Hanes of Alhambra, Ill.; daughter, Laura M. Bancroft Peterson of Arlington Heights, Ill.; son, Steven J. (Lora) Bancroft of Jacksonville, Fla.; step sons and daughter, Charles N. (Linda) Hanes of Wentzville, Mo., James S. (Debbie) Hanes of Holiday Shores, Ill., Frank E. (Lisa) Hanes of Edwardsville, Ill., and Aimee L. Hanes Couch of Highland, Ill.; sister, Ruth E. Leirer of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Dr. Clarence (Carolyn) Haege of Freeburg, Ill.; grandchildren, Carson and Casey Peterson of Arlington Heights, Ill., Sarah and Mark Hanes of Wentzville, Mo., Garrett and Trenton Hanes of Holiday Shores, Ill., Emily Hanes of Edwardsville, Ill., Clifton "CJ", Amanda and Jacob Couch of Highland, Ill.; many beloved nieces and nephews .
