Anthony Jefferson Obituary

Anthony Jefferson, age 84, of Lummi Nation, passed away October 2, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital. Born July
23, 1923 to Edward and Julia (George) Jefferson, Anthony was a lifetime fisherman and woodcutter who loved his community.
Anthony served from April 1943 to November 1945 in the U.S. Army. He was placed in the 299th Combat Engineer Battalion and was wounded in action during the WWII invasion of Normandy, later receiving the Purple Heart. In addition to Normandy, his service included campaigns in Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was one of the most decorated Veterans from Lummi Nation.
Anthony loved his family and is survived by his son Anthony Jefferson Jr. and his wife Marian, daughter Julie Ann Jefferson and significant other Brandon Richardson, daughter Lorna Phair and husband Robert, sister Dorothy Morris, grandchildren Dennis, Tawnee, Christine, Serena, Hazel, Gordon III, BreAuna, Kaneem, Anthony III, and Dharian, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Julia, brother Ernest Jefferson Sr., and sisters Hazel, Ethel, Ann, and Leona.
A Prayer Service will be held October 4, 2007 at 6:00 PM at the Wexliem Community Building with a Funeral Mass to follow on October 5, 2007 at 10:30 AM also at Wexliem. Burial will follow at Lummi Nation Cemetery.
