Somehow on the internet I ran into the news of your Dad's passing. A long long time ago I met Martin when I was in the company of son, Michael. Both father and son were, even at that time, large personalities in a family of great personalities. All the best to you Mike and to your family as well.

The First time I met Marty was in an interview and all he wanted to do was talk about the things I liked to do. From the get go what I learned from Marty was how to have fun. When I later saw the Marlboro man poster he posed for cause "...it seemed like it would be fun" it confirmed what I think everyone saw in Marty.... someone, everyone liked to be around because.... he's fun to be around.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Marty will be missed.

To All The Maloney Family,
Please accept my and my wife's condolences on the passing of MMM. He was the best IBM had....bar none.
My wife (Dorothy Hutchins) and I reported to Marty in the National Program Office for General Electric (in Norwalk, Connecticut) and we loved working for him. We were not alone....all the IBMers there thought the world of him.
Sincerely,
Shep Nachbar (and Dorothy Hutchins)

I never had the pleasure of meeting Martin Maloney, but I did room with his son Sandy at Santa Clara, and if Sandy was any indication, then Martin must have been one heck of a great guy. His son was smart, funny, ethical, handsome, and, above all, modest. He loved people and people loved him. He also loved his dad, his mom, and his sibling very much, and he always wanted to live up to their expectations, not an easy thing to do in times as chaotic as the sixties. I was shocked to see that Sandy predeceased his parents, and there are tears in my eyes as I write this.

When I hear the name Marty Maloney, I can picture a tall good-looking charming man. I always thought that your parents were one of the best looking couples I had ever seen. When my parents (Dan & Marge Piccone) would have dinner parties many years ago, your mom and dad were just great. I hope all four of them are sharing great times in heaven. My prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. It was nice getting to meet your Dad when he moved to Concord. The children from the Concord Children's Center Emerson could take a stroll over to the Nursing Home and say "hi" to "Marianne's Dad!" He always had a smile! It was a pleasure meeting him.
