As an employee of New England Development, Bill was a man I respected and admired. The last year before his retirement, I was Bill's assistant and got to know him in a more personal way. I have many pleasant memories of that time and the stories we shared, mostly about his family. He truly was a "Family First" guy and he was so he was so proud of his children and grandchildren. My sincere sympathies go out Linda and the entire McCabe family.

His contributions to our association and to the business of shopping centers are many and important. They have influenced the lives of the literarlly millions of consumers who have used them He was a dear and faithful friend.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Linda,
My fondest memories of Bill fall into two categories: personal, talking about families, wine and sailing and professional as one of his lawyers, watching him in public hearings on behalf of one of NED's projects. One of the best was being with him in Peabody in front of one of the city boards and a very large crowd announcing that in renovating the Northshore Mall he and his partners would not close the small Catholic chapel as the crowd had feared and then explaining with his usual warmth and wit that "sometimes you have to answer to a higher authority"! We always said that Bill could run and be elected mayor in any town in which he lead the development effort - such was his charm and integrity.
I am sure he would enjoy my remembering him with my daughters over a fine bottle of wine much as he has shared many fine wines with you and your children over so many years.
Jessica and my sincere condolences to you and the family.

Linda and Family,

I will always remember Bill fondly. When first meeting you all in Marion decades ago I have always remained impressed with your family and in particular your husband and father. He was a true gentleman so accomplished in so many ways. I am proud to have known him. I share your sorrow as he will be greatly missed by all who have had the priviledge of knowing him.

God Bless,

Bill was a wonderful and caring partner. He was a major force in the success of New England Development. He was the professional and sincere face of New England Development in countless communities. He was successful at what he did not just because he was a good salesman (which he was), but because he was trusted by so many and delivered on his promises.

When I think of Bill I think of a very positive, well grounded, sincere, upbeat and confident man who worked very hard, but always had time for his family who he was so proud of.

I met him first as a client when I was a lawyer for NED and got to know him better as a friend and trusted business partner when I moved to NED. We worked closely for many years with great mutual trust and admiration.

To Linda and to all the kids and spouses and grandchildren, I give for Nancy and me our sincerest condolences.

Sincerely, Steve Fischman

I am honored to have worked for such a good person and a true leader in the industry. My best to Linda and the family.

Bill was one of the nicest men I knew and a leader in the real estate development industry who shared his time and knowledge freely with others. For his advice I was so grateful.
