SANDWICH — Christopher "Chris" Tanner died unexpectedly early Sunday July 6, 2008, at the age of 38.

He was the longtime companion of Alison Dooley and the loving father of Niam and Mor Tanner, all of Sandwich.

He was born in Barnstable and raised and educated in South Yarmouth, the son of the late Marilyn (Mulhern) and Charles Tanner. He respected and was grateful for all the Colton family did for him and his family. He loved being a father, and he cherished the time he spent with Alison and his daughters. He is also survived by an aunt, Sandra Price, of West Harwich and Brookline.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 625 Main St., Chatham. Interment will follow in People's Cemetery, Chatham. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115. For guest book, visit www.MorrisOConnor.com.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was a very good friend of Chris's in High school. I wish I had known about the service I would have attended. Again sorry for your loss and I have great memories of him. He was a good friend.

I was so sorry to hear about Chris' passing. Although I did not know him very well, we had worked together many, many years ago for the Town of Dennis Beaches. Some friends and I had just recently wondered how he was, and hoped he was doing well. We all agreed, Chris was always upbeat, smiling and a genuinely funny person...while all of the other gate attendants brought their beach chairs to work, Chris always got a laugh with his chaise lounge! In fact he was pictured in the local paper because of it. My thoughts are with his family at this truly sad time.
