DAYVILLE, Conn. —

Mr. Patrick F. Donlon, 78, of Dayville, formerly of Manchester, Mass., died Sunday, July 6, 2008.

Born in Putnam, Conn., he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Farrell) Donlon. Mr. Donlon was the husband of Marilyn (Jasmin) Donlon, whom he married on Sept. 29, 1951, at St. Joseph Church in Dayville.

Mr. Donlon attended St. Mary School and graduated from Putnam High School in 1947. He was a 1952 graduate of Ellis Technical School and continued his education at the University of Hartford. He enjoyed a 40-year career with SNET, retiring in 1987 as a marketing manager.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Joseph Brennan of Manchester, and Terri Donlon and Robert Loomis of Osterville; a son, Michael Donlon, of Dayville; and four grandchildren, Evan and Riley Donlon and Julia and Caroline Brennan. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers, Mary, Francis, Thomas, Edward and Bernard Donlon, and Elizabeth Wolchesky.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patrick's family on Friday, July 11, 2008, at 9 a.m., in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anne Church, Ballouville Road, Ballouville, Conn., with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Anne Church, Ballouville Road, Ballouville, CT 06233.

Mrs. Donlon, Nancy, Terri, and Mike,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful husband/father. I cherish the memories I have of him as your Dad, Nancy. He was so soft-spoken and sweet, thoughtful and caring. I remember a twinkle in his eye as well! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My sympathies to the family of Pat Donlon. I certainly remember all those wonderful veggies from the garden that my mother, Mary Lou, would share. It's often difficult to think back about the good old days on Grosvenor Road. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and Pat also.
