SANDWICH — Miriam Patricia MacLeod, a resident of Sandwich, passed away on July 4, 2008.

Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late J. Ronayne and Evelyn (Cohoon) MacLeod, she moved to Halifax at an early age. She was educated at St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Patrick's Girls High and Mount St. Vincent. For many years, she was employed with the British Consulate in New York and San Francisco.

Upon returning to the East Coast, she taught medical terminology at the Lahey Clinic. After retiring, she applied her knowledge of antiques as proprietor of Blue Balloon Estate Sales on Cape Cod.

She loved her garden and enjoyed photography. Her writing ability was evident in the poems and short stories she wrote for her family.

Miriam is survived by her sister, Jean MacLeod Kelley of Sandwich; nine nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Murray, Donald and Hugh.

Mass at St. Theresa's in Sagamore, on Wednesday, July 16, at 4 p.m., will be followed by a gathering of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod.

HEY MIRIAM!! I LOVE THE MEMORIES I HAVE WITH YOU. YOU NEVER GAVE UP ON ME AND WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO LISTEN AND GIVE ADVICE (EVEN IF I DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR IT!) I'M GLAD YOU LET ME BE THERE FOR YOU IN YOUR LAST FEW MONTHS HERE AND I WOULDN'T OF HAD IT ANY OTHER WAY. I WISH YOU WERE HERE WITH US AND IT IS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT YOU, BUT I KNOW YOU'RE IN A BETTER PLACE. I THINK OF YOU AND CRY SOMETIMES, WHICH I KNOW YOU WOULDN'T WANT, BUT IT HURTS TO KNOW CHRISTMAS IS GOING TO COME WITHOUT YOU. BUT THEN I THINK OF YOU AND LAUGH AND SMILE BECAUSE OF THE AMAZING PERSON YOU WERE. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF YOUR FAMILY AND FOR ALWAYS BELIEVING IN ME. I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD AND I WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU. I KEEP YOU IN MY THOUGHTS EVERYDAY AND I MISS YOU TERRIBLY. REST PEACEFULLY, AND SAY HI TO MY NANA AND PAPA UP THERE. I HOPE YOU'VE FOUND FANNY RUNNING AROUND UP!! GIVE HER A HUG FOR ME. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS.

Dearest Mim:
I look at your smiling picture every day and think how truly blessed I am for having had such a wonderful friend. Your unselfishness, kindness, wisdom, humor, and adventuress spirit for the love of life will never be forgotten by those who knew you. You touched so many lives in so many ways. My home is full of memories of you. What a gift of love you have left for your family and your friends. May you rest in peace (but I know you are kicking up a storm up there!). With all my love.

Dear Jean and Family,

'I can't tell how much I enjoyed seeing you and al the relatives together, even though it was for Miriam's passing. I consider myself privileged to have have had the time to have gotten to know Miriam , even for a short while. Both you and she were always looking to make our time togther most enjoyable.Well, you both succeeded in spades! I am sure that Miriam has a special place in heaven. I have told God that when my time comes, I will be happy to live in her garage. .
Also , Julia has now seen a lawyer and inquired as to how she can get rid of her real parents and be adopted by Aunt Jean. Go figure.
God bless you all, and we look forward to the next time we can be together again

Sincerely,

Corston,Odette, and Julia.

Mim,
I am so glad our paths crossed. You are an un-forgettable person. You were my teacher at our work place at the hospital as well as a special friend to so many. I am sure you have been welcomed with open arms in heaven. To your family, I wish you wonderful memories and love; all of which Mim would want for you. Till we meet again some day, memories of you will bring a smile to my face.
