MILO, Iowa — Madeleine L. Fox, 87, formerly of Brewster, was called to her heavenly home on July 5, 2008, at the Kavanagh House in West Des Moines. She will be buried with her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines.

Madeleine was born on Jan. 5, 1921, in Winthrop, Mass., to John and Ethel Jessop. She married Thomas J. Fox, and they were blessed with four children, Thomas, Patricia, Elizabeth and Peter. She was a perfect grandmother; she loved being with her grandchildren.

She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She was also very interested in people and could spend hours meeting new people.

After her husband passed away, she made a great network of friends, staying active with them going on walks and hikes.

Madeleine was a member of Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster and belonged to the Ladies Guild.

Madeleine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Fox, and a grandson, Terrence M. McWalter. She is survived by her children, Thomas J. (Susan) Fox, Patricia T. (Maurice) McWalters, Elizabeth A. (Randal) Uttley and Peter J. (Diane) Fox; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Tom, Pat, Liz, Peter and the rest of the Family.
Words are not enough to express my sadness at the passing of your Mother, Grandmother and all around great person.
She was a shining light for all and welcomed all into her home and made you feel like you were her family. She will be deeply missed yet I will remember all the great times we all shared together.
