BUZZARDS BAY — Richard A. Young, 82, of Buzzards Bay, formerly of Millis, died July 17, 2008, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lempi Wiano Young. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company M, 320th Infantry Regiment, a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was an industrial arts teacher, teaching in Millis, King Phillip Regional and Mansfield high schools. He had also been a real estate broker. He had a passion for traveling, music, square-dancing and bowling.

He was a member of the Dewitt-Clinton Masonic Lodge in Sandwich, Tide Club in Bourne and the Finnish-American Society of Cape Cod.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Anderson Young, and three sons, Eric A. (Charlene Bohl) Young of Middlesex, Vt., Brian R. (Linda) Young of Plainville and Dana W. (Kathy) Young of Quakertown, Pa. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Frank (Barbara) Young of Charlotte, N.C., and John M. (Virginia) Young of Boscawen, N.H.; and six grandchildren, Melinda Weisgal of Los Angeles, Calif., Heather Hester of Danvers, Heidi Young of Tampa, Fla., and David, Bradley and Steven Young, all of Quakertown, Pa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. Private family burial will be Monday morning at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Sandwich.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Memorial Fund at St. John's Episcopal Church in Sandwich or St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Millis.

Edwards mother was Hannah Burke. E.H YOUNG died in 1948.
