Walter McGauley Obituary
Born on Sept. 19, 1924, in Boston, Walter graduated from Boston College High School in 1942 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Boston College in 1949. He worked for Boston Edison Corp. for 37 years, retiring in March 1987 as a district manager.
He was married to Helen T. McGauley for 52 years. She died on Feb. 11, 2008, and they resided in Newton before moving to Cape Cod in 1993.
He is survived by two sons, Walter Jr. of Newton Centre and Gregory of Chatham, N.J., and East Orleans. Walter Jr.'s wife is Nora and his children are Colleen and Katie. Gregory's wife is Patricia and his children are Katelyn and Ryan.
Walter was active in the Kiwanis Club for more than 40 years, Newton/Needham Chamber of Commerce, Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club, and numerous other civic organizations.
Visiting hours will be held in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, on Monday, July 21, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joan of Arc Church, Orleans, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Orleans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monastery of St. Clare, 920 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.

Walter was a dear friend as we were at BC in the late forties. I left to go to BC Law School. I lived on the Arborway and kept up our relationship even after he married and moved away. His name brings back many pleasant memories. He is in my prayers.
