Ronald Beaty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2008.
HYANNIS — Ron "Hawk" passed away June 28, 2008, following a long and courageous battle of failing health.

Born in Ohio, the son of Romer and Betty (Rich) Beaty, he served during the Korean War as an Aircraft Communications Specialist aboard RC21D Early Warning Constellation Aircraft. His squadron, 960th was part of the 551th Airborne Early Warning Central Wing. He received recognition for 1,000 hours of flight time. He was honorably discharged with eight years of service. He then pursued a career in building, elevating to a master carpenter. He built many homes and businesses, participating in construction of Cape Cod Mall, West Yarmouth P.O. and a foreman on Cromwell Court. He also worked for Hinkley's Lumber & Millwork, Daniel Bros., Osterville, Hal Finch, and Godfrey & Wright, West Yarmouth.

During the Vietnam War, he enlisted in Army Guard in Radar Avionics, receiving an honorable discharge. Ron attended CCCC, was a member of the NAMVETS, VVA, and Moose Lodge and Odd Fellows.

As a young man, Ron enjoyed scuba-diving off Great Island and the Cape Cod Canal, boating, water-skiing, music and dancing. He spent hours reminiscing of his family of origin, early travels as a youngster, and was oh so proud of his Native (Cherokee) ancestry. He was an avid reader of history, a whiz at crosswords, a great cook and always up for a barbecue. He will be missed for his dry humor and generosity with friends and family.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Beaty, and fiance, Chris; sons, Scott Beaty and fiancee, Catherine, Mark Beaty, Ron Beaty and wife, Chanda; grandsons, David Beaty and fiancee, Jesse, Dustin Small; Ron's devoted companion, Loni Monet; friend and former wife, Nancy Johnson; loyal friends, John and Paul; and his beloved and devoted cat, "Buddy." He is also survived by two sisters, Joanne Giebner and Marion Price, several nieces and nephew from Florida.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, for a procession to the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne for a memorial service and interment at 12:30 p.m. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the service at the NAMVETS, Veteran's Outreach, 565 Main St., Hyannis.

Memorials in his name may be sent to Hyannis Fire Dept. Rescue, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, or NAMVETS, Hyannis.
