PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — Barbara Gosford Kinder, 83, of Ponte Vedra, Fla., died suddenly on July 19, 2008, in East Dennis.

She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Aug. 2, 1924, the daughter of Edward Charles and Esther Anderson Gosford. She graduated from Germantown High School, Pa., in 1942, and from Duke University in 1946, and also studied at the Marine Biological School in Woods Hole. After her studies, she worked at Lederle Labs and the Wm. R. Warner Therapeutic Institute in N.Y., and at the research laboratory at the Istituto Sieroterapico, Milan, Italy.

In 1952, she married William Tupper Kinder and settled in Titusville, Pa., where they lived for most of their married life and where their three children were born. In Titusville, she was on the board of the YWCA, president of the Service League and president of Friends of the Library. Barbara loved the outdoors, enjoying swimming, golf and tennis, and the Kinder family spent each summer on Quivet Neck in East Dennis, where Barbara twice won the Sea Street Beach Lukow championships.

She was the loving wife of 49 years to William Kinder, who passed away in 2001. She is survived by her three children, Charles Jeffrey and his wife, Jennifer, of Wilbraham, Mass., Arvid Tupper and his wife, Leticia, of Park City, Utah, and Loring Kinder Strudwick and her husband, John, of Lake Forest, Ill.; and by her six grandchildren, William Clark Kinder, Natalie Catherine Kinder, Charles Tupper Kinder, Jane Kinder Strudwick, Andrew Tupper Strudwick and Ian Jeffrey Strudwick.

Jeff, Tupper and Loring,
You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Your mother was such a wonderfully warm and gracious woman. She always walked tall and proud. She was someone I enjoyed knowing as a child and as an adult. I looked foreward to seeing her these past two summers while I stayed at her house on vacation. We had such great chats in the yard. I'd like to share one with you. It was last 4th of July and she was on her way to Lorings house. She had her red, white and blue blouse on and was dissapointed that she had not brought her white slacks to the Cape. I told her that she looked great and then noticed that her lipstick matched her pants. I exclaimed "Babs you fashionista! She have tied your whole outfit together with lipstick!" We both laughed while her eyes were smiling with the acknowledgement that that is what she had truly done. I will always fondly remember your mother and am thinking of you all at this time.
