EAST FALMOUTH — Martina E. (O'Hara) Grady, 80, of East Falmouth, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Royal Nursing Center in Falmouth, after a brief illness. She was the wife of James F. Grady, who died in 1991.

Born in Boston, she lived in Wakefield, moving to Falmouth in 1967. Martina worked as a waitress at the Shady Nook restaurant and as a cashier for the First National Store in Falmouth. She was involved in child care for more than 70 children through Catholic Charities of the Fall River and Boston Dioceses. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She is survived by a son, James F. Grady of East Falmouth, and a daughter, Martina E. Miller of Rutland, Vt. She was the mother of the late Robert and Thomas Grady.

She is also survived by three brothers, Rev. Francis A. O'Hara of East Falmouth, Leonard O'Hara of Plymouth, and Andrew O'Hara of Bristol, N.H.; and three sisters, Grace O'Hara and Corrine O'Hara, both of East Falmouth, and Eileen O'Hara of Plymouth. She leaves six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, at St. Anthony's Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway (Route 28), East Falmouth. Burial will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A), West Falmouth.

My prayers are with you all these days. I have such wonderful memories of a great woman who could make me laugh -- all while she was maintaining a straight face! She was a wonderfully, down-to-earth woman with a lot of love that she shared with so many.
