SANDWICH — James R. Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, in Dennis at the age of 76.

Mr. Jackson was born in Cambridge and raised in Quincy. He was the son of the late Elvira (Lewis) and John Robert Jackson. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Dennis-Yarmouth school system and at the Brewster Elementary School as a custodian.

After retiring, Mr. Jackson went to work part-time for Pocasset and Holly Ridge golf course. He was a big fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his two children, Laurie (Mark) Hauber of West Yarmouth and Ian Jackson of Harwich. He was the brother of John Robert Jackson of Maine and Florida, and Frederick Jackson of Pembroke. He is also survived by his grandson, Christopher Hauber; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 11:30 a.m., at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. A cortege will form at the funeral home on Thursday morning, starting at 10 a.m.
