Edward MacKinnon Obituary

EAST FALMOUTH — Edward F. MacKinnon died Aug. 9, 2008, in East Falmouth, at age 83.

Formerly of Dorchester, he was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Boston University Harvard Ext., and City of Boston LPN School of Nursing. Edward worked 54 years as secretary to court justices at the Boston Municipal Court.

He was a member of St. Mark's Parish in Dorchester before moving to East Falmouth 12 years ago. He was a volunteer and Eucharistic minister at Falmouth Hospital, and member of The 3rd Order of St. Francis.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean L. (Sheehan) MacKinnon and was the son of the late Donald F. and Barbara (Coyle) MacKinnon. He was the loving father of Janet Whitley and her husband Robert of Canton, Donald MacKinnon and his wife Maura of Braintree, Mary Losi and her husband Francis of East Falmouth, and Elisa Neary and her husband Edward of Marshfield; brother of Barbara Tracey and her husband Joseph of West Roxbury; devoted grandfather of Brian, Christopher, Andrew, Daniel, and Elizabeth Whitley, Jeanne Cappella, Edward and Kathleen MacKinnon, Peter, Ann Marie, Laura, and Timothy Losi.

Visiting hours are in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Anthony's Church, Route 28, East Falmouth, on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment is in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's memory to Cobb Memorial School, Box 503, Altamont, NY 12009, c/o Sister Mary Thomas.

Dear Aunt Jean and family,
