WEST YARMOUTH — Jimmy Fregeau died peacefully on Aug. 8, 2008, after a heroic battle with cancer, accompanied by his family and friends.

Jimmy was the beloved son of Barbara (Souza) Barabe and Ronald Fregeau.

Jimmy was born, educated and worked his entire life on Cape Cod.

An avid golfer, he only got to play on weekends, but thoroughly enjoyed every minute he was on the course with his buddies. He was also a pretty good fisherman and nearly always brought home dinner.

Jimmy had many good times camping at Sandy Neck, a place he loved and enjoyed. A beer after work with his friends at the "Deck" was not unheard of.

Kids and dogs loved Jim, and we all know you can't fool kids and dogs when it comes to who loves them. He lived a simple life with small needs, and if you were one of his friends, you can consider yourself a very lucky person.

Jim worked as a certified oil burner technician and oil delivery man for the past 30 years. He was employed by Bass River Fuel Co., Nelson Coal and Oil and Speedway Oil. He was a loyal and dependable worker and was loved and respected by all of his customers, many of whom fed his sweet tooth over the years.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his stepfather, George Barabe; his paternal grandparents, Clement Fregeau and Mildred Oliviera; a brother, Jeffrey Fregeau; a sister and brother-in-law, Jacquelyn and Frank Publicover; and nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Emma Publicover and Molly Fregeau. He also leaves an aunt and great-aunt, Lillian and Claire Souza, as well as other relatives in New Bedford.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center, Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601, or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Whomever wrote Jimmy's Obit,
That was probably the most honest and real portrail of Anyone I've ever read.
Jimmy always had a smile or a kind word.
God must be looking for someone special.
