Doug, I'm so sorry to have taken so long to write this. I kept thinking that I could find the words to express how I feel but there aren't any. I miss your smile and all the stories Mom told me of funny things you've done.I keep thinking you will stop by at my work to see me. I'm so very happy that you did two days before we lost you. I know your still smiling down at all of us. I sure do miss you, until we meet again. Love you, from one of your other Moms. Ni

I have never known a more positive person...truly the best outlook on life. He was always happy and had a nack for bringing everyone "up" with him. We were classmates (DY class of '89) and although quite some time has passed since those days...one thing remains; to know Doug was to love him. He continues to be missed. My thoughts are with his loved ones in sincere sympathy.

Dear Doug,
Its been a couple of 3 months or so...I can't help but to constantly look back on our "postcard" life in Colorado. Now life is different, a little more quiet. I will say that I don't take things so seriously-even though sometimes I should. I also don't take things for granted as much. Today is truly a gift. I try to tell everyone I love them more often, and hold on to that hug a little bit longer.
I miss you bro.

Hold onto your memories and let them guide you during this time of sadness. Wishing you the gentle comfort of those special memories.

Dear Doug,

It is difficult to put into words the grief I feel over your sudden loss.

You were a man of true character. You were compassionate, considerate, personable, loyal, able to live in the moment, passionate, funny, and definately fun to be with.

You told me often how much you loved your children, family, and friends.

I know our paths crossed for a reason and I am greatfull to have made some sweet memories with you over the years and esspecially during the last year of your life.

I miss you huge and will always hold a special place in my heart for you.

Thank-you for the love you shared with me and so many others.

Love Always Laura

I was lucky enough to meet Doug when we lived up in Breckenridge CO in late 1993. We really just hit it off as buddies and had such a fun time every time we got together. I know probably anyone reading this has no idea who I am, but Doug and were life friends - friends for life. Although we went our separate ways as friends sometimes do, we always kept in touch. Every conversation included laughter and Doug telling his funny stories. I can still hear him saying "right right" or "Whats up BRAAAA!" I am so sad to have missed the celebration of his life with family and friends. Eileen eventually found me and my brother Mark in Denver. My heart goes out to his family and kids and friends all over. I'll carry his laughter with me all my days.

I miss you and I love you Doug. Your friend always. Rob

I was so very sad to receive this news about Doug from my Mother who lives on the Cape. I remember Doug's smiling face and great sense of humor. We went to DY together and became great friends in our typing class (which we were not very good at)! I later met up with Doug in Colorado where we both enjoyed some great skiing. He was an adventurous person with a great spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with Doug's family. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Occasionally, we have to remind ourselves that all the darkness in this world has never yet put out a single light.

Not the light in a man's eye!

Not the light in a man's spirit!

Not the light in a man's smile!

This man Doug, has been a guiding light for all of us, with spirit, charm and sincerity.

God Bless you fella.

Doug, where are you? "I can hear your loved ones"

After Glow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly to you it stays,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and HAPPY DAYS.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when life is done.

One of my last memories of Doug was when he came to my cousin's wedding ... he had to buy a suit at the last minute, Somehow, the clerk had forgotten to take the security tag off the coat... Doug wore the suit to the wedding anyways ...tag and all. He never skipped a beat...Always a huge hug and a big smile ..Doug was a constant with our family and we are blessed to have had him apart of our lives. Missing him is an understatement.
