My mother Marion McDonald asked me to convey her sympathy on Dick's death. Our family knew Dick for many years. We were neighbors at Riviera Towers in the Bahamas. Dick was very kind and helpful to my mother over the years. She always knew she could rely on him for assistance when needed. We are all saddened by his sudden passing.

Uncle Dick was a most wonderful and very special, loved, member of our family. He made our young years full of so many joys and pleasures. He was always there and quick to help and guide with his gracious manner and wisdom. He was cheerful in all weather and such a pleasure to be around. We all owe him a deep debt of gratitude for the blessing he was in the lives of all of us nephews and the neices. We will always cherish the fond memories and keep his dear spirit in our hearts. May The Lord especially comfort Barbara, Rick, Angela and the rest of his beloved family during this time of deep loss and sorrow. We send our love to all.

Success:
To laugh often and much,
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children,
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, To appreciate beauty, To find the best in others, To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded! ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

An admirable man who will be sorely missed.

From the Department of Massachusetts Marine Corps League:

Please accept our deepest regrets and condolences on the passing of Former Marine Richard Stevens.
There is a poem written by a Marine in the Korean War.
It goes like this,

Do not stand by my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds circling in flight.
Do not stand by my grave and cry ...
I am not there. I did not die.
I am a Marine now and always
protecting and serving our
Supreme Father into infinity.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
