Paul Lowell Obituary

SOUTH YARMOUTH — Paul M. Lowell, 85, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Dorchester, died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Agnes Frances (Crowley) Lowell. He was born, raised and educated in Somerville, and attended Mass. Institute of Art.

Mr. Lowell served in the Marine Corps from 1941 to 1945. At the completion of World War II, he joined the Boston Police Department as a patrolman. He retired as a detective in 1981.

Mr. Lowell and his late wife moved to Cape Cod in 1982, after many years of living in Dorchester. He worked as a bartender at the Blue Rock Golf Course in South Yarmouth. He enjoyed golf and sketching the many scenes of Cape Cod.

He was the loving father of Paul M. Lowell of Arlington, Va., William J. Lowell of Falls Church, Va., Janet M. Guiney of Plymouth, and Stephen J. Lowell of Braintree. He is also survived by his companion, Barbara L. Moore of South Yarmouth; a brother, Charles Lowell; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Station ve., South Yarmouth. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:45 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut St., Brockton, MA 02301.
