CENTERVILLE — Lawrence Coggeshall, 73, of Centerville, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, after a long illness.

A Cape Cod native, Larry was a graduate of Barnstable High School, a Coast Guard veteran and longtime boat captain. He was a founding member of the Osterville Anglers Club.

Larry is survived by his fiancee, Barbara Whiteley; two sons, Lawrence Jr. of Spencer, and Stuart and his wife Tina of Mashpee; and daughter-in-law, Paula Coggeshall of Spencer. He was the brother of Marilyn Tarr of Florida and the grandfather of Lawrence III, Cassidy, Haley, and Alex. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, on Thursday and Friday, followed by service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sovereign Bank, c/o Lawrence Coggeshall OAC College Fund.

Barbara, I am very sorry for your loss. Al Howe says that Larry had been very sick for a long time, so it must have been hard on you. I don't get to see my old friends much any more. I was down at crosby's recently for the first time in years.
