Janet M. Bruno

FALMOUTH — Janet M. (Zeeland) Bruno, 73, of Falmouth, and a former resident of North Easton, passed away peacefully Aug. 25, 2008, with her family at her side.

Born on March 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Geneva and Frank Zeeland, she was raised in Foxboro, later moving to, and graduating from, Brockton High School. As a young woman, she received a degree from Chandler in Boston. She later became an office manager for a veterinary clinic and later for a plastic surgeon, where she could integrate her skills with her interest in medicine.

She married John L. Bruno, who died in 1988, with whom she raised her four children.

She was the beloved mother of Jennifer Fleming of Falmouth, Jeffrey Bruno of Hopkinton, Julie Benson of Barrington, R.I., and Jane Dolan of Sandwich. In addition, she is also the grandmother of Christian, Kerry, Alec, Eric, Dave and Kylie. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Hamelburg of Eastham; and a brother, Jon Zeeland of Easton and Orleans.

She will also be missed by her "club," a lifelong group of friends who maintained a close bond since high school. In addition, as an animal lover; she will greatly miss her dog "Dudley."

She was inspired by the beauty of Cape Cod, which were often subjects of her paintings. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends as an expression of her love. For those who knew her, her generosity was unparalleled.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth center. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Thomas Chapel, Falmouth Heights Road, Falmouth.

In lieu of flowers (although she likes them too), we are accepting donations in her name at Citizen's Bank for a memorial fund for compassionate care. Otherwise, consider filling out an organ donation card or do a good deed in her memory.
