Francis LaChapelle Obituary
Born on July 31,1933, in (Happy Hollow) Buzzards Bay, he was the son of the late Pheobe (Eldredge) LaChapelle-Pointer and Fred LaChapelle Sr. He was a Bourne High School graduate, class of 1951, and was a member of the Air Force from 1951-1955.
Upon discharge from the military, he attended Bryant & Stratton College in Boston, graduating with high honors with a degree in business administration.
In 1958, he became employed in Manhattan, where he continued to live until 1980. From there, he lived in Hew Hampshire until June 1986, at which time he returned to Buzzards Bay.
He was an employee at Tobey Hospital, Wareham, until retiring in 2000. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Church on the Canal in Buzzards Bay. It was there on Nov. 11, 1989, when he started the Friendly Kitchen, which continues to serve free meals each Monday evening.
He was a lover of all animals, nature and anyone who was in need.
He is survived by three sisters, Betsey (LaChapelle) Tracey of Buzzards Bay, Delores (LaChapelle) Harlow of Buzzards Bay, and Mary (LaChapelle) Marquis of Teaticket; a brother, Fred LaChapelle of Catskill, N.Y. He was the brother of the late Sally Haskell and nephew of the late Celine Eldredge. He also is survived by an aunt, Irene Hill of Buzzards Bay, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Special in his heart were niece, Regina Tracey-Coelho of Buzzards Bay, great-niece, Georgianna Coelho of Buzzards Bay, whom he called Princess, and great-nephews, Michael Haskell, Joseph Coelho, Richard Coelho Jr., all of Buzzards Bay.
Private burial in Dover, N.H. Memorial service is Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Church on the Canal, 165 Main St., Buzzards Bay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to MSPCA, 1557 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632, Bourne Friends Food Pantry, 7 Colonial Road, Bourne, MA 02532, Friendly Kitchen, c/o St. Peter's Church, 165 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.

MY SYMPATHIES GO OUT TO MY EXTENDED FAMILY I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE WEEKEND WE SPENT IN NY WITH UNCLE FRANK ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE TIMES IN MY LIFE. HE WAS A GREAT PERSON AND I WISH I COULD OF SEEN HIM AGAIN. MA JUST KNOW HE IS IN HEAVEN WATCHING OVER YOU AND HE IS THERE WITH MY "CHIEF" I LOVE YOU GUYS AND WISH I COULD BE THERE WITH YOU. My sympathy to the LaChepelle family. After moving away from Buzzards Bay, I lost track of many famililies and school mates. I do remember Francis and his brother Fred from many years ago. So sorry to hear of the families loss.
