Roger B. Theroux

EAST FALMOUTH — Roger B. Theroux, 73, of East Falmouth, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, surrounded by his family at his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Fall River, to Armand and Jeanne (Ross) Theroux.

He leaves his wife, Constance M. (Letendre) Theroux of 50 years; daughter, Renee S. (Theroux) Brunquell and husband, Scott, of Bradford; son, Andre P. Theroux of Falmouth; grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicole, and Erin Brunquell, all of Bradford; and siblings, Armand T. of Somerset, Robert and his wife, Jean, of Warwick, R.I., and Claudette (Theroux) Tripp and her husband, Charles, of Fairhaven. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Roger graduated from Prevost High School in Fall River, graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, and did his post graduate studies at Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth.

He was a retired Marine Biologist at National Marine Fisheries NOAA in Woods Hole, where he worked 36 years.

Roger enjoyed world traveling with his wife and friends; he was an avid reader, enjoyed boating, and cultivating culinary skills with his granddaughters.

A majority of his works are at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of National History; many collaborative papers and lectures are also among his many accomplishments.

A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m., in St. Patrick's Church, Main Street, Falmouth. Burial will be private.
