I worked with Leslie for 5 years at the Hyannis Library. I always enjoyed her ready smile and wit. She was truly a down to earth person and I enjoyed her company. I especially had a good time going out to breakfast with Leslie and other library staff on Sunday mornings. I always felt comfortable around Leslie. May she rest in peace and God Bless her family.

We the Leyva Family shall sing praises of Glory in your name. I personally appreciate all of the kindness shown both to me Mary Rita as well as to our children Lucia,James & Maylese. I can not remember a time when we were going over to the Harwich Port Library that I was ever in the car before them. I also feel so fortunate to have had your friendship and that wonderful morning when you brought some rug hooking books by and Lucia made that hot cup of Cuban coffee and you visited here at our home for awhile that was delightful! We often laughed you and I about what a wonderful visit that was and how much you enjoyed the coffee..Cuban style. I am sorry you had to go my friend. We will miss YOU! Sincerely,Mary Rita Leyva and Rafael,Lucia,James,& Maylese

Leslie was what you would call a "good egg"! She was fun, serious, low key and a friend from my early library days. I have some very fond thoughts about her. The people she knew, including me will miss her.

While I was attending Harwich High School, I did community service most Fridays at the Harwich Port Library, where Leslie Brown was the head librarian for many years. I came to think of my service there as a joy, not a burden, as Leslie regaled all of us with her wit and intellect.
Fridays with Leslie became fun. We talked about politics and baseball, especially about the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers. I helped her with the computer and checked books in and out. As we talked and worked, she became one of the best teachers I ever had.
Life goes on. People move in and out of our lives. But as we move on, as we grow older, we realize that certain people in our lives remain in our lives even when they aren't physically present.
You check these people in but you never quite check them out. Leslie Brown was that kind of person.
Although this librarian has a due date in heaven, she will be missed here on Earth. Rest in peace, Leslie.

Leslie,
I will miss you greatly. You gave me the confidence to continue to do everything that I am physically capable of just by your kind words and stubborness to never give up no matter how badly you felt. That will stick with me forever. You cleverness and saracasm will be truly missed!!
