Nancy Amerson Obituary
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Amerson and a wonderful mother.
Nancy and Bob were life partners. College sweethearts in Minnesota, they forged a 20-year Foreign Service career together in Italy, Spain and Latin America. In 1985, after Bob's retirement, they moved from Boston to Brewster.
Nancy's hallmark was her dedication to civic responsibility and community service; the Brewster Ladies Library, the Brewster Garden Club and Sight Loss Services were among the Cape Cod organizations in which she was active. Nancy was the anchor for her husband and daughters, steadfastly sustaining the heart of their home while embracing the culture of each community they lived in.
Her ethics, generosity and kindness made her a true role model of the American democratic spirit. Nancy was an adventurous antiques collector, a voracious reader, an avid gardener, a fabulous dancer and a great friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane Kelly (Ray) Lopez of Albany, N.Y., and Susan (Michael) Hartnett of Winchester; her grandchildren, Sam, Connor and Victoria; her brother, James T. (Wini) Robb Jr.; Bob's brother and five sisters; many cousins, nephews and nieces; and great friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m., at Heatherwood at King's Way, off Route 6A in Yarmouthport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sight Loss Services, P.O. Box 414, West Dennis, MA 02670.
