Dana Callahan Obituary
Dana was born in Barnstable and raised and educated in Harwich. He was a graduate of Harwich High School, where he played four years on the varsity basketball team, scoring over 1,000 points during his tenure.
He worked for several construction companies in the area before receiving his C.D.L. in 2006. He began a career as a truck driver and heavy machine equipment operator, and most recently worked for Northern Paving of Dennisport.
Dana was very passionate about time spent with his family, and especially with his 5-month-old son, Tyrese Justice Callahan.
Dana was the life of the party and loved being at the beach, eating seafood, playing basketball with friends and being with his pet dogs, Shimmer and Bear. He will be remembered for his generous heart and athletic skills.
Besides his parents and infant son, he leaves his brother, Ricky Perry of Harwich, and his fiancée, Salena Ann Small of Dennis. He also leaves many other relatives and close friends. Dana was recently predeceased by his grandmother, Doris "Lovey" Perry, whom he was very close to.
A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Route 28, West Harwich. Burial will be private at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Coutinho-Boisse Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich.
Family requests that donations in Dana's memory be made to a trust set up for his son's education, payable to: The Dana Callahan Memorial Trust, c/o Cape Cod Five Bank, Main Street, Harwich Port, MA 02646.

Dana,
It's been almost 2 months since you've left us and the tears are still fresh on my face. I try to live life everyday with a smile but am dying inside as I'm sure alot of us are. Homie I can never say enough how much I truly loved you. I'm so thankful I had the chance to get to know you when we were little and grew up with you as my homie! I'll never forget the day you and Salena got together and you had some groupies chasin you. lol you said to me.... Yo cuz I really like this girl and I got some chicken head's chasen me, take care of that for me huh cuz? and that I did. lol I miss you so so much my homie and I will never ever as long as I'm alive forget the close friendship we had. Dana,
If I new you were going to pass away soon and I had one chance to send you a letter this is what I would say. I still wish I knew what happened that Sunday morning but I guess it was your time.
Dear Dana,
I want you to know how prowd I am of you and all you have done over the past couple of years. I will never forget the day we talked and I sent you to school to get your truck drivers permit. I new it was a long drive but you went everyday and never missed a class. Then you went and got your permit and soon after that on your first try got your C.D.L licence. Not many people did that. You worked very hard at Northern and I was always prowd of you when I would stop by and see how you were doing or bring you lunch. You always cleaned my car and did a great job. The day Tyrese was born I was so prowd of how you stayed the entire time and even lived at the hospitol for awhile!! You always made Tryese smile and all the other kids to. You had a way with kids and animals. You really turned the corner and you were on your way to becoming a true family man. I know you loved Salena and Tyrese and me in your own way. I will never forget your daily phone calls, calling me mom2 and your honesty. I miss your calls and seeing you and I am so sorry you will not be here to see your son grow up. But I made you a few promises and I promise to keep them. You will be in my heart forever and when I look at Tyrese I see you smileing back at me. I will try and remember what you said "relax" lifes to short!!! Rest in Peace my son. I love you and will be missing you always!!!!

On September 2oth We laid our Soulider to Rest. I Hope Dana was there Friday Night and saw how much he was LOVED. I hope he saw the Line to see him was Out the Funernal Parlor door, through the Parkking lot and to the curb. A TRUE SUPERSTAR!!!!! It's the day after we layed you to rest and I still can't beleave your not with us anymore. I came home last night and just cryed and cryed and cryed. I went through all of bianca's pictures and took out all the ones of you and selena, and you with all of us and just lost it. I love you so so much homie and I'm so sorry for not telling you enough. I think you chould tell though. I'll always be thinking of you and never will I let your memorie fall. Dear Family of Dana,
My deepest sympathies go out to you. I first met Dana when he was 14 and he was such a nice kid. His laugh was always recognized with ease and pleasure, his smile happy and his eyes bright. I never saw him in a down mood. He had grown into a wonderful young man when I met him (again) at the age of 20.
Have faith that he is with his grandmother now. My heart goes out to his son and his memory is kept fresh for this young one.

Dana, man I just got home from your funeral and I still can't believe it! We loved you man! You have no idea how much we are going to miss you. I saw your son for the first time today and it made me realize that it had been way too long since I've seen you. I'm sorry I didn't make more of an effort! I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels like that too. RIP Dana...we'll never forget you.

Dana, you were always an amazing soul to me. You always shined and brought that light to all of us. You kept us smiling and laughing all the time. Our hearts are filled with sadness with the loss of Dana. I cannot imagine the pain you feel now, but wanted to let you know that our loving thoughts are with all of you. We can say how much we will miss Dana as well. Dana was a jewel among us, always giving a shining example of kindness, caring, loving and fun. Dana was more than my nephew, he was my friend. Although distance and time took us in different directions throughout our lives-he was always close to me.

I remember meeting Dana Callahan about 15 years ago. We were playing basketball at Ramon's house off Main Street in Harwich. The things that I first noticed about Dana, other than his obvious basketball skills, were his smile and laugh. I thought that here was a young guy with a lot of life ahead of him. Never did I think that only
fifteen years later, I'd be reading about his death in the Cape Cod Times. His life has ended much too soon. We are all very sorry that he's gone.

Everytime I saw Dana he has had a smile on. He was always so chipper. He greeted me with a hug most of the time. He always made me feel comfortable. He always let me know that he was there for me for whatever, whenever. That he was only a phone call or a few houses away.... I loved him like family as I do the rest of you. I will miss him always.... My kids and I would walk around the neighborhood, by his house, or just see him driving. My daughter, Tristyn; would always wave or yell out "Hi Dana". We were laying in bed the other night talking about our feelings. I had told her only a few hours before of Danas passing. She asked me "Mommy how do you feel?" I told her "I was sad." She told me "Dont be sad. Uncle Rickys brother is with Papa up in the sky with the angels." I started to tear and I told her "Yes he is." I kissed her goodnight and she said "Goodnight mommy, Goodnight Papa, Goodnight Dana." He is watching over all of us.....
